Mission and Purpose

Our mission: Empowering, Strengthening, and Representing Michigan's Conservation District Employees.

It is simple really. We are here for you, the Michigan conservation district employee. When we strengthen employees, we strengthen the districts they work for.

Every conservation district in Michigan is a little different, and that can leave employees feeling like they are on their own. CDEM brings those employees together. We give people a sense of belonging, a place to share what works, and a way to pool resources so everyone comes out ahead. You are part of something bigger than your own office.

Boards and Committees

CDEM is led by a volunteer board made up of one Regional Representative from each of Michigan's ten regions, plus an 4 member Executive Board of officers.

Most of the work happens through committees, each focused on a different part of supporting employees:

Executive Committee

Handles governance, bylaws, finances, and board operations.

Professional Development Committee

Builds trainings, the Lunch and Learn program, leadership cohorts, and mentoring.

Communications Committee

Keeps the website and annual report current, manages the email list, and works to raise the district's visibility.

Scholarships Comitee

Sets the scholarship guidelines and selects recipients.

Member Benefits Committe

Researches and improves the benefits members receive, including the employee insurance package.

Strategic Planning Committee

Sets short and long term goals and keeps the board moving on them.
